One of the most preventable engineering failures is manufacturing from the wrong drawing revision.

The final approved design may be technically perfect.

If the workshop fabricates Revision 1 instead of Revision 4, none of that matters.

Revision control is therefore a practical engineering requirement, not merely document administration.
