A generic request for “ceramic structured packing” is not enough for serious supplier comparison.
Tower ID Must Be Known
Ceramic structured packing blocks need to fit inside the tower without being forced into place.
Because ceramic is brittle, insufficient installation clearance can cause breakage.
The supplier therefore requires a reliable tower inside diameter.
Block or Element Dimensions

block dimensions, layer height, number of blocks per layer, and total number of layers.
This is essential for both fabrication and installation planning.
Manway Access
Large ceramic blocks may be heavy and brittle.
Manway size therefore influences not only physical fit but also safe handling.
Segment or block size should be compatible with the actual access opening.
Material Performance
If the project requires specific:
acid resistance, alkali resistance, water absorption, mechanical strength, or ceramic composition,
these requirements must appear before final pricing.
Different ceramic formulations may carry very different costs.
Breakage Allowance
Procurement should decide whether the order includes:
spare blocks or extra quantity.
The allowance should be listed separately rather than hidden inside the main quantity.
This helps receiving inspection reconcile delivered quantities.
Packaging
Packaging is particularly important.
The supplier should protect ceramic structured packing against:
impact, point loading, vibration, and uncontrolled movement.
Export crates or reinforced packaging may be required depending on shipment conditions.
Installation Information
Each block or section should be identifiable if installation sequence matters.
Layer numbering and orientation marks can reduce site handling errors.
Documentation
Depending on project requirements, the supplier may provide:
product drawings, material test reports, packing plan, installation instructions, and inspection reports.
These should form part of the quotation scope.
